The Market Education Committee (MEC) is the outbound facing arm of the ONF. Our primary goals are to educate the SDN community on the value proposition of software-defined networks based on the OpenFlow® Standard and promoting adoption of ONF Standards. In addition, the MEC is responsible for channeling market feedback to guide the technical working groups, and focusing on use case definition and high-level market requirement development.
Achievements
- Established the Solution Brief, Requirements, and Presentation Library project teams
- Published the SDN/OpenFlow® Standard White Paper
- Published Carrier and Data Center Solution Briefs
- Provided tutorials at leading SDN events, and provided dozens of speakers on behalf of the ONF
- Contributed Guest Blog Posts
- Published 3 solution briefs including Operator Network monetization, SDN in the campus environment and OpenFlow® enabled mobile & wireless networks
- Signed an agreement of cooperation with China SDN and OpenFlow
- Commission ahead of the China Open Networking & SDN conference
- Established relationships with China SDN & OpenFlow® Commission, Open Networking User Group (ONUG) and US Ignite
- Provided tutorials at leading SDN events, authored guest blogs and published a member and SDN product directory on the ONF website
Goals for 2014
- Publish additional Carrier and Data Center solution briefs
- Organize SDN/OF Seminars/Tutorials for leading SDN events
- Create and launch a presentation library repository for use by the ONF members
- Support ongoing activities of other groups including Layer4-7 discussion group and Testing & Interoperability working group.
- Lead the SDN solutions showcase effort with the ONF team
