ONF recognized several outstanding contributors at its Member Workday on October 10, 2013.
Mitch Auster, Ciena
Outstanding Contributor, MEC
Mitch is being recognized with an ONF Award for his outstanding contributions to the Market Education Committee Carrier-WAN Project Team. Mitch is the only MEC member to have served as the Editor for 2 Solution Briefs that have already been published, including among the first (Data Center Interconnection), along with the most recent Solution Brief on Network Monetization, which he also showcased on the ONF Blog. He is a long-standing member of the Market Education Committee, who works efficiently with a high degree of professionalism. While soft-spoken, Mitch is extremely dependable and serves as a role model for MEC contributors.

Outstanding Technical Contributor, FAWG
Shaun Crampton has been a frequent and thorough contributor in the area of specific encoding of the Forwarding Abstraction model descriptions, the so-called “Table Type Patterns” that are represented in JSON. Shaun’s detailed contributions are exactly the sort of technical work that is essential to the success of a working group developing a detailed technical specification, and we deeply value his efforts.
Dave Hood, Ericsson
Outstanding Technical Contributor, Config & Mgm
Dave is an expert in the OAM area. He has been leading two efforts in CMWG – 1) defining events framework for OAM for which he delivered a specification and 2) clarifying the distinction between of-config and of-wire. He coordinated efforts across CMWG and arch working group. Dave is a regular participant of CMWG weekly calls and is a major contributor to the discussions on the mailing list.
Dave Hood, Ericsson
Outstanding Contributor, Optical Transport
Dave has taken on a number of roles including lead editor for OT Use Case document and editor of Use Case 2a on Virtualization, and has provided a lot of careful technical thought and proposals into the WG. In addition, he has been the main bridge between Working Groups, carrying ideas over from Optical Transport to Architecture and to Configuration-Management, as well as taking on the responsibility for Terminology across groups. He is in fact one of the few that are actively working across multiple Working Groups and keeping them in synch.
Carl Moberg, Tail-F
Outstanding Technical Contributor, Config & Mgmt
Carl is an expert in data modeling and netconf. He has been leading the definition of data models for NDMs for which he has worked with Curt closely and delivered a yang module for NDMs. Carl has very effectively bridged the work across the two working groups. He is a regular participant in CMWG weekly calls and is a major contributor to the discussions on the mailing list.

Outstanding Technical Contributor, Testing & Interop
Tim is a consistent contributor in our working group who regularly attends weekly calls. Tim has also stepped up to help in the review of test cases for the v1.3 conformance program.
Ed (John) Rathke, Verison
Outstanding Initiative, FAWG
In addition to active participation in other ways (such as document reviews), Ed Rathke has taken on the important (and generally thankless) role of regular meeting scribe for the Forwarding Abstractions Working Group. His reliable attendance and readiness to capture the commentary in the meetings has been of tremendous help to all FAWG participants, particularly to the Chair! We very much appreciate his commitment to the group.
Johann Tonsing, Netronome
Outstanding Initiative, Extensibility
Johann has contributed greatly to the Extensibility WG this year. Earlier, he contributed Bundles, one of the main features of OpenFlow® 1.4. He managed to push the feature through the WG process. Recently, he has been organizing the discussion around themes for 1.5 in Extensibility WG. This great initiative will help us shape the vision of 1.5 and deliver more innovation into the OpenFlow® specification.
Dacheng Zhang, Huawei
Outstanding Technical Contributor, Security
Dhacheng has been a consistent and dilligent contributor to the Security WG. He has taken on large portions of the Threat Modelling work, suggests new approaches to the analysis, posts interesting content to the mailing list, and makes insightful contribution to our discussions. Despite the fact that most of our discussions stretch past midnight in his timezone, he is probably the most regular attendee and contributor to our weekly calls.
