Check out the video from the inaugural Aether Community Meeting!

Aether, the open source 5G Connected Edge platform, is seeing worldwide adoption in both research and commercial applications. We are launching a new initiative to bring this community together to promote knowledge sharing and cross-pollination of ideas.

This new online community meeting provides Aether users with an opportunity to share their experience, knowledge and lessons learned.  Come to gain insights to accelerate and expand your own plans. Come to collaboratively help us chart Aether’s future roadmap.  And if you are considering using Aether, this is a great place to learn from others and make connections across the community.

Virtual meetings are hosted on a monthly basis. For each meeting we invite someone from the Aether community to present what they are doing with Aether as well as share their insights, challenges and plans going forward. Attendees have the opportunity to ask questions following the talk.

For this kick-off meeting we will included a brief update on Aether along with the featured talk from SLICES - a large scale research network based on Aether:

  • Aether Overview - Siva Ananmalay and Ajay Thakur, ONF (Slides)
  • SLICES - Serge Fdida and Theodoros Tsourdinis, Sorbonne University (Slides)
  • Community Roundtable

Sorbonne University will discuss SLICES, a consortium with partners from 15 European countries who are creating an open, flexible platform based upon Aether to support large-scale, experimental research focused on network protocols, radio technologies, services, data collection, parallel and distributed computing and cloud and edge-based architectures and services. SLICES is building its platform on a combination of Aether and OAI open source. In the talk they will discuss how they are using Aether and experiences in its deployment.
