SDN and NFV are sometimes spoken of as if they were the same thing, and at other times as if theywere completely disconnected. The reality is far more interesting than either of these:Operator experience now shows that they operate hand-in-glove, especially with the solidifying of the infrastructure as the southbound protocol and controller wars become a thing of the past. SDN and NFV are being deployed in concert to deliver services and applications that ride on and exploit the flexible and programmable infrastructure, with VNFs and orchestration taking center stage. In this workshop we will explain the concept of converged SDNFV, shed light on the orchestration landscape (including the prominent and somewhat competitive open-source projects), and share validated use cases and experience of leading operators.
