NEC Shows the Benefits of OpenFlow-based SDN in a Hospital Setting
Abstract
Rapid adoption of the state-of-the-art medical equipment in the hospital industry is escalating the management complexity and cost of the underlying network infrastructure. Networks optimized individually for each department, manual rewiring of networks to accommodate new equipment result in higher management workloads and increase network failures due to human errors. A flexible and secure network architecture that can be managed centrally is critical for expanding hospital networks cost-effectively.
