REA DIRECTOR – Ben Mack-Crane is a Principal Architect at Huawei focusing on automated control across a broad spectrum of network technologies, from optical to packet and L0 through L7. Ben has been involved in behavioral specification and modeling of a wide variety of network elements over his career including telephone switches, flexible multiplexers, cable telephony, transport systems, and packet switches and routers. Most recently he has focused on technology and standards development in the areas of multi-layer network architecture and control, emerging packet technologies, and software defined networks (SDN). His current work is focused on virtualization and SDN. Ben has actively participated in standardization efforts, including work in the IEEE, IETF, ITU, OIF, ATIS, MEF, and ONF.
