This year, the ONF’s Korean Ambassadors, Jian Li, Sangho Shin, DongKyun Kim, Daniel Park and Sangyun Han, organized the 1st ONOS/CORD Working Group (WG) meetup for February 2019 at SK Telecom’s Headquarter, In Seoul. The SDN/NFV forum provided the logistics and SK Telecom provided the venue and 40 WG members attended this meet up to discuss the recent activities on ONOS/CORD projects.
The main theme of the meetup was SDN-Enabled Broadband Access (SEBA), with four separate talks presented.
The first talk was given by Jian Li (Manager at SK Telecom), providing a general introduction to SEBA Reference Design (RD) along with the latest updates on Converged Multi-Access and Core (COMAC) RD.
The second talk was given by Jian-Hao Chen (Sr. Engineer at Edgecore Networks). In this talk, Jian-Hao provided updates on the R&D Proof of Concept for the SEBA project at Edgecore Networks.
In the third talk, HongSeok Shin (Manager at SK Telecom) shared the efforts and trials from SK Telecom in past two years on Passive Optical Network (PON) virtualization by leveraging ONF’s VOLTHA and R-CORD projects.
The final talk was given by JongMin Kim (VP at HFR), and he shared the implementation details on R-CORD based white box OLT and VOLTHA.
The full program is made available on the Ambassador event page. The event page is located here: https://ambassadors.opennetworking.org/event/1st-onos-cord-working-group-meetup-in-2019/.
The ONOS/CORD WG was initially founded on October, 2016, by aligning with the ONOS/CORD Ambassador program. The goal of ONOS/CORD WG is to promote SDN/NFV technology, especially ONOS/CORD projects to the Korean open networking community.
The ONOS/CORD WG meetup is organized in bi-monthly basis, and overall 15 meetups have been held so far. Note that, last year the ONOS/CORD WG also co-organized an open networking meetup with P4 Working Group (WG), at SK Telecom's Headquarter.
The upcoming meetup, which is the 2nd ONOS/CORD WG meetup in 2019, is scheduled in April/May, and the topic will be about cloud native network (CNI: Container Network Interface, kubernetes network) support using ONOS.
We hope to see you all at the next meetup!
