MENLO PARK, Calif. October 15, 2020 -- The Open Networking Foundation today announced the launch of its new ONF Marketplace featuring products that have completed testing and achieved certification as part of ONF’s Continuous Certification Program. ONF’s open source platforms that are currently part of this program include Aether, Stratum, SEBA and VOLTHA.
ONF’s unique Continuous Certification (CC) program was announced in May of this year and offers ONF’s supply chain members the opportunity to embed their products for ongoing test and compliance certification with ONF’s open source software projects. The program integrates products directly into the CI/CD development pipeline for the projects, providing real-time certification against the latest platform software. In this way, certification remains current with the most recent software releases, thus meeting the needs for ongoing certification with open source in the ever-evolving cloud-era.
Operators and end-users can refer to the ONF Marketplace to readily identify products that have been certified with specific ONF project releases. This helps ensure that operators have a vibrant ecosystem of pre-tested and certified hardware options for short-listing vendors, assembling BOMs and deploying ONF open source platforms.
Included with the launch of the ONF Marketplace are the initial certifications for member products that have been certified against various software platforms. The initial ONF projects providing certification span multiple areas, including: broadband access, edge cloud, mobility and white box switching.
The Aether project, an open source private 5G/LTE Edge-Cloud-as-a-Service platform, has certified small cell products from Accelleran and Sercomm.
Stratum, a thin-switch operating system for white box switches leveraging P4 and P4Runtime, has certified switches from Edgecore Networks and Inventec.
VOLTHA, the Virtualized OLT Hardware Abstractions platform integral to ONF’s Virtualized Broadband solution SEBA, has certified PON equipment, including OLTs and ONUs, from Edgecore Networks and Sercomm.
